Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has been discharged from hospital after suffering a heart attack.

Inzamam had reportedly been complaining of chest pain for three days, before tests on Monday revealed the 51-year-old had suffered a heart attack.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Inzamam was rushed into surgery and underwent an angioplasty that same day.

The surgery is said to have gone successfully and he has now been discharged from hospital in Lahore.

Inzamam is Pakistan's leading run scorer in ODI cricket, notching 11,701 runs at an average of 39.53 across his career.

He is also Pakistan's third-highest leading run scorer in Test cricket, having made 8,829 runs at an average of 50.16.

After retiring from the sport in 2007, Inzamam has worked as Afghanistan's head coach and Pakistan's chief selector.

The cricket world has wished Inzamam well on social media, with Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar writing: "Wishing you a speedy recovery @Inzamam08.

"You've always been calm yet competitive, and a fighter on the field. I hope and pray that you'll come out stronger from this situation as well. Get well soon."

Former Pakistan skipper Azhar Ali wrote: "I wish my childhood hero @Inzamam08 Bhai a speedy recovery all the prayers and wishes for you.."

Pakistan wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan added: "Prayers for the quick recovery of our legend and pride of Pakistan Syed Inzamam ul Haq. May Allah SWT give you complete shifa. @Inzamam08 #InzamamUlHaq"

Inzamam's former team-mate Wasim Akram tweeted: "Dear Inzi, you have a beautiful heart. Seems like it's caught the evil eye.

"I was worried that someone with such a big heart was in such pain. Praying that you get better quickly so that your sweet heart can make everyone happy. My dearest friend, take good care. Let's meet soon."

Current Pakistan international Sarfaraz Ahmed added: "Prayers for @Inzamam08 bhai for speedy recovery In shaa Allah he will be fine"
