Anti-Bahrain oufit in UK parliament dissolved

ManamaAn anti-Bahrain parliamentary group in the British parliament has been dissolved, DT News has learnt.

The so-called All-Party Parliamentary Group for Democracy in Bahrain was formed to encourage democracy in the Kingdom. However, it adopted a hostile approach against the Island, embracing the agendas of opposition groups known for using violence and terrorism.

The group had been used as a gateway by the anti-government groups living in Britain, who carried out many activities to distort the image of the Kingdom outside and brand it as a dictatorship country.

Among those who got benefited from this group is Abdul Raoof Al Shayeb who was sentenced by the London’s Snaresbrook Crown Court to five years behind bars after a computer memory card loaded with military files on “bombs, missiles and destruction” were found at his home.

Spearheading this group were MPs Dr Matthew Offord and Sir David Amess of the Conservative Party, Andy Slaughter of the Labour Party and Lord Avebury of the Liberal Democrat Party. The latter died last February.

It’s worth noting that the group’s leaders have been renowned for their conservative stances against Bahrain. But sources suggested that it was Avebury who was fuelling it with life. His death drastically impacted its activities before it was decided to dissolve.

Sources said its removal came after people in Britain have become aware of the main motive of this group; to deform the image of Bahrain and to undermine the reforms made by the leadership through spreading untrue information.
