WINONA — The September Jazz Jam fundraiser will be held from 2:30-5:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at Island City Brewing Company for the benefit of Ready Set School.
Ready Set School, a local non-profit, works to ensure that all eligible K-12 students who attend school in Winona County have the basic and necessary supplies and clothing for school. The Jazz Jam will welcome performers while raising money, and both Island City Brewing and H30 Jazz Trio will match the total amount collected, tripling the contributions.
Visitors are advised to come early, grab a beverage and find their favorite spot on the patio to enjoy the music.
Lanesboro Welcoming Week includes honors businesses
LANESBORO — Starting at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Lanesboro will kick off Welcoming Week to celebrate unity and togetherness.
Organized by the Lanesboro Area Chamber of Commerce and the Lanesboro Economic Development Agency, the day will begin with business owners and residents gathering at 7:30 a.m. at Sylvan Park near the gazebo for conversation and networking, followed by an official proclamation by Mayor Jason Resseman.

Lanesboro’s EDA will unveil a collaborative grant for business education, as well as a Lanesboro Livability grant from the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation The chamber will showcase some of the city's 20 new businesses.
At 5:30 p.m., the chamber and business owners will gather at Sylvan Brewing for a happy hour, giving new business owners an opportunity to share more about themselves. The public is invited to the Welcome Week activities.
Corn Maze, games offered at Lanesboro-area farm
LANESBORO — A walk through a corn maze, a ride in a hay wagon, and a pick-your-own pumpkin patch are among the autumnal activities at the Big Springs Farm Pumpkins & Corn Maze north of Lanesboro beginning Sept. 18.
The fall farm attraction features 20 acres of family fun and will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Halloween, plus those same times during the Thursday and Friday of MEA week, Oct.21-22. In addition to an 8.5 acre corn maze with 2.75 miles of trails, there is an inflatable jump pad, hay ride, corn pit, duck races, gravity box basketball, haybale jungle gym and more for the admission prices of $10, with children 3 and younger free. For an additional cost you can pick your own pumpkin, get great treats and drinks, and take home other items.
There is a special hike to take for fall photos and fall colors.

Less than two months left for Pine Island Farmers Market
PINE ISLAND — The Pine Island Farmers Market will continue to take place from 3-7 p.m. Fridays through September at Waletzko Park, the lot behind Island Market, but will move to the Cheese Factory during October.
For the second consecutive year, the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce has offered a Power of Produce program, awarding kids between the ages of 4 and 12 years a $2 token to spend on fresh fruits or vegetables. This summer, 175 tokens were awarded to local young people encouraging healthy eating and supporting local growers.

Project FINE hosts free diversity training session
WINONA — In conjunction with Welcoming Week, Project FINE will host a free diversity training session from 10-11:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Winona County Office Building, 202 W. Third St.
Led by Project FINE Executive Director Fatima Said, the session will focus on culture, recognizing and respecting differences, and practical tips for fostering a welcoming environment. Options for both in-person and online attendance are available, and the training is free and open to the public.
Project FINE is a non-profit organization with the mission “to strengthen and enrich our community by facilitating the integration of people who are ethnically diverse.” It serves Winona County and the surrounding region with a variety of programs and services for newcomers and established residents.
