Woodland Park Zoo Will Reopen In July

After months of coronavirus related closures, the zoo has announced that they'll reopen to the public in just a few weeks time.

SEATTLE, WA β€” The Woodland Park Zoo will be reopening to the public on June 1, and visitors will be able to buy tickets starting next Monday, June 22.

But, to keep everyone safe from the pandemic, the zoo has implemented a few big changes visitors will want to be aware of:

  • Visitors and members will only be allowed to enter through the West Entrance, and tickets will be sold with designated entry times, to make sure fewer people are using the entrance at any given time.
  • Once inside, visitors will need to keep a safe physical distance of six feet apart.
  • On their journey, zoo-goers will be asked to follow a guided one-way path through the zoo, which Woodland Park says will keep traffic flowing evenly.
  • Face coverings and masks will also be required for all visitors and staff.
  • High-touch surfaces will be closed, including vending machines, kiosks, drinking fountains and other similar surfaces.
  • Several indoor areas will also be off limits, like the Family Farm, Zoomazium, and Bug World.

It's not all closures and restrictions though: food will still be sold at several spots around the zoo, restrooms are open and frequently sanitized, and the ZooStore at the West Entrance will also be reopened.
