Soft Robotics Extends mGrip Modular Gripping System with New Features
The mGrip system, which was introduced in 2019, is a collection of configurable gripper and controller products that allow accurate, high-speed picking of traditionally difficult-to-grasp objects.
FREMONT, CA: Soft Robotics has declared the expansion of the mGrip Modular Gripping System with new capabilities and an IP69K rating to allow for safe food handling of proteins and dairy products. These latest features put more capabilities into the hands of machine builders to design flexible end of arm tools that can combat high-pressure washdown environments.
The mGrip system, which was introduced in 2019, is a collection of configurable gripper and controller products that allow accurate, high-speed picking of traditionally difficult-to-grasp objects. mGrip is now tackling some of the most difficult picking problems for Fortune 100 businesses in the food manufacturing and consumer packaged goods sectors, with hundreds of systems in production globally.
Because of the inherent variability and strict hygienic criteria that often involve food contact surfaces to be cleaned-in-place with high-pressure solutions, the adoption of robotic automation in the protein and dairy industries has fallen behind other food segments. "The needs of protein and dairy customers are unique, and their automation options have been limited as a result," stated Austin Harvey, Director of Product Management at Soft Robotics. "We've seen a lot of demand from the protein and dairy industries throughout the pandemic, and we're excited to bring a new level of versatile and cleanable grasping solutions to our customers to help grow their businesses."
