94 Cases Added Overnight In Montgomery; Total Reaches 24,560

SILVER SPRING, MD — The Maryland Health Department on Tuesday reported 94 new COVID-19 cases and one new death in Montgomery County, bringing the total number of cases to 24,560 and the local death toll to 821.

Another 40, health officials believe, had COVID-19 but died before ever getting tested. "Probable deaths" aren't included in the official fatality count until they are confirmed by a laboratory test.

Montgomery County — Maryland's most populous jurisdiction — has the second highest number of deaths and cases in the state, after Prince George's County, which has 822 fatalities and 31,617 infections, according to the latest figures.

Across Maryland, there have been 136,744 cases, 3,904 confirmed deaths, and 146 "probable deaths." Of the 464 people that are currently hospitalized, 123 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
