THETFORD, Vt. — A Rhode Island man was scheduled to appear in a Vermont courtroom Wednesday on drug charges.

A traffic stop last week on I-91 north in Thetford, Vermont, led to multiple charges for 32-year-old Hunter Hargraves, including possession of hash, marijuana and benzodiazepines – a class of drugs primarily used for treating anxiety.

The Providence man was stopped by troopers for a motor vehicle infraction July 15, according to Vermont State Police, who did not indicate the nature of the infraction.

After speaking with Hargraves, troopers learned he had "contraband in his vehicle," police said. A subsequent search led to the seizure of the drugs, according to authorities, who did not indicate the amount of drugs allegedly recovered.
