State police in Greensburg have announced that they will hold a sobriety checkpoint in the month of July, along with roving DUI patrols.The Troop A patrol unit will set up a DUI checkpoint "at a location within Westmoreland County" sometime between July 1 and July 17, police said in a written statement.Authorities are not required to disclose the specific location or date of a checkpoint in advance.Police remind everyone not to operate a vehicle while impaired, and to make arrangements for a designated driver before drinking alcohol.The checkpoint is intended to "decrease deaths, injuries and property damage caused by impaired drivers," and to lower the number of impaired drivers on the roads, police said.
