Mobile Coronavirus Test Lab Sets Up In Batavia This Week

BATAVIA, IL — Public health officials are sending a mobile coronavirus testing unit to Batavia this week to support local testing capacities.

The mobile unit is set to spend two days in the city, with testing available Monday and Tuesday at the old Sam's Club building at 501 N. Randall Road, according to a news release. Tests are available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

Mobile testing labs will also stop Saturday in Elgin and Sunday in Carpentersville.

Kane County Health Department officials are encouraging anyone who has been recently exposed to a potential or confirmed coronavirus case to get tested.

Those who want to be tested must provide a name and phone number so officials can reach them later with their test results. A photo ID is not required.

Those who want to remain in their cars during the test must be seated at a functioning window, though both sites will also allow people to walk up, officials said. Test results should be available within four to seven days, officials said.

People can also be tested at the Chicago Premium Outlets in Aurora until Wednesday. The Illinois Department of Public Health is set to close down the site after the property's owner declined to renew the IDPH's lease.
