Jubilance PMS Shares Megan's Journey From PMS Nightmare to Relief

Imagine a girl with all the potential in the world. Here, Jubilance for PMS shares her story.

Imagine a girl with all the potential in the world. Let’s call her Megan (I have changed her name). Since the age of 13, when her period started, Megan’s world turned upside down. Each month, about a week or so before her period, Megan would experience these minor mood swings. She alternated between moodiness and anger and could barely control her anxiety. Her stress levels were uncharacteristic for this usually sweet young girl. Just for about three to five days—then she was “Megan” again—a normally happy girl.

Megan had friendships and a great relationship with her parents until those days just before her period. Then, she would become the girl you wanted to avoid. Even though Megan’s gloominess, stress, and anxiety only lasted three to five days out of each month, it took a significant toll on her life, as sometimes the words you say in anger often seem to last forever. Friends started spending less time with her. Her parents were exasperated by her (though they still loved her deeply).

As Megan grew up, she learned to hide from friends, family and her employers during that crucial time each month. If “that time” occurred during the workweek, she would consider taking a sick day and stay at home. She faced the challenges of advancing in her career, as she was affected monthly, and she even began to suspect that her employer was starting to consider ways to let her go.

Megan began to understand that she had Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) and that while the over-the-counter medications could help with the physical symptoms, nothing seemed to work for the emotional symptoms. Her symptoms of mild mood changes, anxiety, stress and irritability just could not be kept in check. These issues continued for 12 years. Even when it wasn’t her PMS time, Megan suffered, as she remembered how she treated her family, friends and co-workers, and she felt guilt and shame. Eventually, Megan found one thing that helped improve her emotional PMS and her symptoms faded noticeably - Jubilance for PMS. Some of the feelings remained, but now they were manageable and less overwhelming. Megan felt a renewed sense of optimism now that she could see a new, brighter life ahead of her.
