National Jewish Health is offering free remote coaching for Colorado youths struggling to overcome an addiction to smoking or vaping through MyLifeMyQuit.org.

The partnership with Colorado’s Department of Public Health and Environment was relaunched this month and is funded by revenue from the state’s Amendment 35 tobacco product tax. The same tax also pays for the adult-oriented Colorado QuitLine.

Tobacco and nicotine product users between the ages of 12 and 17 can sign up to participate confidentially in the My Life, My Quit program, which is self-guided, offering activities to support quitting and information about vaping and tobacco as well as coaching over the phone or via live online chat and text messages.

Enrollment information is available on the program’s website, and coaches can be contacted by calling 855-891-9989 or texting “Start My Quit” to 36072.

According to a 2019 survey, about a quarter of Larimer County youths reported vaping at least once in the past month, and approximately half of all youths who vaped or smoked had tried quitting.
