Fans who want to see Rockefeller Center Christmas tree will need tickets: mayor

People who want to see the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree this year will have to get tickets first, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Sunday.

“The idea is we’re going to really limit the number of people by using a ticketing approach,” the mayor said.

He said more details on the change to the famous annual Manhattan tradition would be made public this week.

But the city is already planning lane closures and other measures to space out the crowds that flock to the hugely popular event.

“Obviously, we’ll have substantial presence out there from NYPD and other agencies to keep people safe,” the mayor said.

“If you get a ticket, great, go see it,” de Blasio said during a conference call with reporters. “But I’m going to say it again, it’s just not like holidays we’ve gone through before.”
