ABOUT MELISSA MULLAN

Resides in:

White Hall

Education:

Bachelor of Arts in business with focuses in finance and accounting, summa cum laude, Notre Dame of Maryland University

If you had not chosen your current profession, what profession would you choose and why?

Accounting. In college, I focused on both accounting and finance. I started understanding more about what being a financial planner entailed while interning at Harford Financial Group more than 20 years ago. This experience, coupled with the encouragement of my finance professor at College of Notre Dame of Maryland (now Notre Dame of Maryland University), pushed me to switch gears professionally from accounting to finance. Those subjects may seem closely related, but I feel I am able to work more with people and have deeper relationships with families through financial planning.

Favorite vacation:

One of my favorite spots is Assateague Island. I enjoyed camping growing up and while my family and I do not do much camping now – unless it is in a cabin – this spot holds a special place in my heart. I love the serenity and how it is disconnected from the hustle and bustle. I was briefly able to share this with my three sons over the summer and am hoping to go back to enjoy this hidden gem with them more often.

When I want to relax, I … :

This is definitely a busy season in my life with three young sons and a career. I feel I have to be deliberate in carving out time for myself and enjoy sitting out on my patio reading a novel, sipping tea and snacking on a charcuterie board.

Favorite music:

I love 80s music! Journey, Def Leppard, Aerosmith …

Favorite quotation:

“Love the life you live. Live the life you love.” – Bob Marley
