GIRLS BASKETBALL

• Greenville 58, Sharon 21 – At Greenville, Coach Kristin Richards’ Lady Trojans improved to a perfect 4-0 in Region 4 play and 9-5 overall with the win over Sharon (1-3, 2-11).

Greenville jumped out to a 17-5 lead after 8 minutes of play and rolled to the win.

Amy Batt and Skyler Swartz both scored 10 points to lead Greenville, Isabel Serrano contributed 8 points and Josie Lewis tallied 7.

Jaysina Sellers was Sharon’s leading scorer with 9 points. Also, Kamouree Williams chipped in 5 points and Jordi Murphy chipped in 4.

• Sharpsville 34, Reynolds 31 – At Transfer, Cassie Dancak posted a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double to rally the Lady Blue Devils (3-1, 8-6) past the Raiders (1-3, 3-11) in the Region 4 clash.

Reynolds led 8-0 at the end of the 1st quarter and 17-8 at halftime. Sharpsville outscored Reynolds 13-3 in the 3rd quarter and 13-11 in the final frame.

Also for Sharpsville, Alli Davis had 9 points and 6 steals, Ady Kratko collected 7 points and 6 rebounds and Paige Doyle had 6 boards.

Halle Murcko led Reynolds with 14 points and Alexis Zachrich added 8 points.

• Lakeview 53, Wilmington 11 – At Stoneboro, Coach Gary Burke’s Lady Sailors (3-1, 12-2) rolled to the Region 4 win over Wilmington.

Lakeview only led 6-3 after 8 minutes of play, but pulled away with a 14-2 scoring differential in the 2nd quarter. The Sailors outscored the Hounds 33-6 in the 2nd half.

Reese Gadsby fired in 20 points for Lakeview, Austa Reed contributed 7 points and Amber Sefton contributed 6 markers.

Emily Withers was the leading point-getter for Wilmington (0-4, 3-11) with 6.

• Grove City 57, Conneaut Area 38 – At Linesville, Becca Santom fired in a career-high 31 points as Grove City improved to 6-1 in Region 5 and 12-1 overall.

Clara Hannon added 9 points for GC and Emma Santom scored 7.

Rylee Jones led the way for CASH (1-6, 3-11) with 13 points while Jaelyn Blood and Jamie Decker contributed 6 points each.

• Hickory 50, Oil City 23 – At “The House of Hustle” in Oil City, Coach Matt Fabian’s Hornets (6-1, 10-4) rolled past the winless Lady Oilers (0-7, 0-14) in the Region 5 contest.

For Hickory, Reanna Daniels had 17 points, Aniyah Anderson scored 11, Emily Duncan added 8 points and Malana Beach chipped in 7.

Maddy Marczak led Oil City with 12 points and Gianna Cavalline contributed 5 points.

• Commodore Perry 53, Rocky Grove 31 – At Rocky Grove, Kaitlyn Hildebran fired in 23 points to lead the Lady Panthers (3-4, 6-7) to the Region 1 win.

Brooke Shrock scored 11 points for CP and Mackenzie Hause added 9 points.

Kennedi Winslow led Rocky Grove (0-7, 1-12) with 13 points.

• West Middlesex 87, Mercer 53 – At Mercer, UMass recruit Makennah White rifled in 33 points and ripped down 13 rebounds to lead the Ms. Reds (6-1, 10-4) to the Region 1 win over Mercer (3-4, 8-7).

Carlie Beatty had 22 points and 7 rebounds for WM, Emily Anthony added 16 points and dished out 5 assists and Olivia Franks finished with 11 points and 5 assists.

Lizzy Fedorchak led Mercer with 13 points, Delaney Fisher scored 11, Darby Miller had 9 points and Peyton Miller and Mackenzie Baker chipped in 8 points each.

• Farrell 52, Jamestown 11 – At Farrell, the Lady Steelers improved to 5-2 in Region 1 and 9-5 overall with the win.

Jaylie Green had 12 points for Farrell, Demariah Burns contributed 9 points and Sanaa Brodie and Kyra Crosby chipped in 7 points each.

Jocelyn Johnson led Jamestown (1-6, 1-11) with 8 points.

• Kennedy Catholic 48, Erie 43 – At Erie, Bellah DiNardo scored 20 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and had 8 steals as Coach Justin Magestro’s Region 1 Lady Golden Eagles (11-2) beat the Lady Royals (9-6) of Region 7.

Malia Magestro had 17 points and dished out 7 assists for Kennedy Catholic, Addie Flanders scored 7 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Alaina Suhar had 6 rebounds.

Aaliyah Rivera led Erie with 11 points, Arianna Mitchell bucketed 10 and Amaria Mims added 8 markers.

• McDowell 47, Slippery Rock 32 – At “The Rock Box” in Slippery Rock, Region 7 McDowell (13-3) defeated the Region 5 Lady Rockets (9-4).

The Trojans led 13-10 at the end of the opening quarter and pulled away by outscoring the Rockets 15-8 in the 2nd quarter and 10-5 in the 3rd frame.

Rachel Helsley’s 17 points led McDowell and Emina Selimovic bucketed a dozen.

Ella McDermott led Slippery Rock with 12 points and Bronwyn McCoy and Kelly Benson contributed 8 each.

BOYS BASKETBALL

• George Junior Republic 64, Cochranton 62 (OT) – At Peter J. Collodi Fieldhouse in Grove City Wednesday, Coach Pat Devine’s Region 5 Tigers (2-10) held on for a thrilling OT win against Region 3 Cochranton (2-11).

GJR led 20-7 at the end of the opening quarter and 37-18 at halftime. The Cards outscored the Tigers 40-21 in the 2nd half to force overtime. 

Tre Smith rifled in 35 points to lead GJR and Rylee Dyson scored 18 points.

Jon Gallo led Cochranton with 16 points, Franklin Morris bucketed 14 and Spencer Kenny chipped in 9 points.

• Saegertown 44, Commodore Perry 28 – At Saegertown Wednesday, the Region 1 Panthers dropped to 1-12 with the loss to the Panthers (6-6) of Region 3.

Brady Greco had 15 points to pace Saegertown while Max Fuller and Jaden Wilkins added 8 points each.

Hunter Artman had a game-high 20 points for Commodore Perry.

WRESTLING

• Brockway 42, Mercer 39 – At Brockway, the Rovers of District 9 edged the Mustangs.

Aiden Bright earned a decision for Mercer at 160 pounds.

Tanner Morelli (145), Linkin Nichols (152), Seth Stewart (170), Eric Johnson (195) and Gavin Thompson (285) posted pins for Brockway.

BOYS SWIMMING

• Hickory 103, Grove City 58 – At Sharon High School, Jason Basile (200 IM, 100 Fly), Hunter Steines (50 Free, 500 Free), Payden Stuart (100 Free, 100 Back) and Xander Mellott (200 Free) captured individual wins as the Hornets (7-2) defeated Grove City.

Stuart, Mellott, Basile and Steines also teamed up to win both the 200 Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay.

GC stats were not reported to The Herald.

GIRLS SWIMMING

• Grove City 108, Hickory 56 – At Sharon High, Hickory dropped to 3-6 with the loss to the Lady Eagles.

Grace Snyder won the 100 Freestyle for Hickory and Gwen Elsey took 1st in the 200 Free and 100 Fly.
