Thursday’s New Haven County tornado confirmed by National Weather Services

The National Weather Service in Upton, New York, confirmed Friday night that there was a tornado on Thursday in New Haven County. The EF1 storm with an estimated maximum wind speed of 110 mph first touched down in a forested area southeast of Judd Hill Road in Bethany and continued 11.1 miles before dissipating in the far southeastern corner of North Haven. Following the dissipation, multiple microbursts began where the tornado left off and continued along the coast from East Haven to Guilford. The maximum wind speeds were between 90 and 100 mph.
