A World War II Veteran who recently passed away is being remembered Friday at a special funeral in Brenham and the public is invited to attend.

Earl Lee Bright served as a Corporal in the Army and passed away at the age of 98.

He served in World War II in Germany and the Pacific.

Because of some legal complications he wasn't going to have a proper funeral so the community, including a local Texas A&M student stepped in to raise more than $4,000 for his final expenses.

Texas A&M Senior Issachar Beechner is also a Sergeant in the Marine Corps and wants Corporal Bright to be remembered for his service.

"We're going to be paying him the proper respects that he deserves. We're going to have the local VFW Post out there giving a 21 gun salute as well as a flag folding ceremony and Taps will be played. We're just encouraging all the community, anyone who's available who can come out and support to show up and to show out," said Beechner.

That funeral is happening at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 21, at the Prairie Lea Cemetery.

1004 Prairie Lea Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
