GREENVILLE — Downtown is about to get another option for burgers and beers.

Jack Brown's Beer and Burger Joint will open its 16th location at 19 Augusta St. in the West End of Greenville. It will be next to pizza shop Mellow Mushroom and the street entrance for the bar Velo Fellow. It is the second location in South Carolina for the Virginia-based company.

The restaurant serves almost a dozen types of burgers along with a daily special, and offers about 100 beers. Downtown Greenville has other burger-oriented restaurants such as Grill Mark's on South Main Street, Social Burger in the Camperdown Plaza and the recently-opened Windy City Burgers on East Coffee Street.

The new location of Jack Brown's aims to be open by end of October or early November, regional manager for the Charlotte, Columbia and Greenville areas Scott Krezmer told the Post and Courier.

"It checked all the boxes for us," Krezmer said for the company's choice in choosing Greenville.

"You get a younger college crowd and then you get the neighborhood vibe. Then being in that downtown area, like being close to the park, you really can't beat that."

The restaurant is currently hiring a general manager, assistant general manager and kitchen manager. Interested candidates can email Scott directly at scott@jackbrownsjoint.com. In September, the Greenville location will start hiring for non-management positions. The whole operation will employ 30 to 35.

Jack Brown's currently has restaurants in Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Alabama, Ohio and South Carolina in Columbia's Five Points. The Five Points location opened earlier this year in February, filling in the space of Cover 3, a sports bar that catered to the college crowd.

It has a sister restaurant concept called Billy Jack's Wing and Draft Shack with three locations total in Virginia, North Carolina and Florida. The shack restaurant has an expanded menu, focusing mostly on boneless chicken.
