Chanel Reportedly Plans To Build Manufacturing Site In Austin

Plans centered on 50 acres east of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport purchased through Chanel-controlled real estate holding company.

AUSTIN, TX — French retailer Chanel plan to build a manufacturing site in Austin, according to a published report.

Referencing county deed records and documents filed with the city, the Austin American-Statesman reported on the company's plans, which appear centered on 50 acres east of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport purchased through a real estate holding company it controls, according to a report.

The company is known for its high-end fashion wear, handbags, makeup, perfumes and skin care products.

According to the examined documents, a May 21 deed recorded the land sale the Del Valle area from SH 71-130 Holdings LP for an undisclosed amount. Tmine is linked to Chanel on many of the documents, sharing a New York address with the brand's New York headquarters. Moreover, Chanel executive Louis Erickson is named on the deed.

Neither Chanel nor Austin Chamber of Commerce officials confirmed the report.
