Rivals250 defensive end Marcellus Earlington announced a short list a few months ago but the Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco product has three standouts along with a couple visits coming up this month.

IN HIS OWN WORDS...

"Penn State, Michigan State, Georgia, Rutgers, North Carolina, and Duke made my cut," Earlington said. "Those of the big ones right now. I'm not sure what I'm going to commit. It will be when the time is right. When my family, friends and everybody feels good that's when I'll commit.

"I'll probably do some visit after the season," he said. "Penn State, Georgia, and Duke will probably get official visits. Those three definitely stand out. The coaches at those schools have been on me a lot. I like the family environment there.

"I'm definitely talking to a lot of schools and still keeping my recruiting open," said Earlington. "After the dead period I'm going to get down to a lot of schools. I think I'm going to go down to Duke and North Carolina this month. That will be after the dead. I talk to Rutgers, Penn State, Georgia, and Michigan State."

RIVALS' REACTION...

Penn State, Georgia, and Duke may stand out to Earlington but there is certainly time for other schools to make a move. North Carolina has a major opportunity to jump up his list with his impending visit. If it goes well Earlington could return to Chapel Hill for an official visit. Rutgers will be in the conversation with Earlington and he could end up there depending on how the chips fall. Michigan State fans need to hope for a return visit if they want to keep pace with the rest of the teams chasing Earlington.
