PHOENIX — There’s already a way for Arizona residents to find out if they have COVID-19 antibodies or not. Now, there’s a new test that reveals even more information.
Sonora Quest Laboratories has a new semi-quantitative antibody test that can determine the quantity of COVID-19 antibodies present.
“This can be helpful in trying to determine your immunity levels,” Tom Leggett, director of business development for Sonora Quest, told KTAR News 92.3 FM.
He also said this new test can be a great resource as studies continue to try to determine the level of antibodies needed to produce and maintain immunity to COVID-19.
“After you’ve had COVID-19, you can get this new test and see what your level of antibodies are,” Leggett said. “And then you can compare them in maybe six months or a year to see if they’ve fallen or if they’re still high.”
He said patients can do the same after they’ve gotten vaccinated against COVID-19.
Sonya Engle, chief operating officer for Sonora Quest, said this new antibody test is another tool that can help us “understand and find answers to this devastating virus.”
“The more we know about COVID-19 and how our bodies react to both the virus and vaccines, the better our decisions about how we slow and stop the spread of this virus can be,” she said.
Healthcare providers can order this new semi-quantitative COVID-19 antibody test by Sonora Quest for patients, or patients can order it on their own through My Lab ReQuest.
