Man in critical condition after car hits motorized cart in Phoenix

Phoenix police say a man was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition after a motorized cart he was riding in was struck by a vehicle Tuesday night.

The crash happened near Ninth Street and Broadway Road, Phoenix police Sgt. Tommy Thompson said.

The man was driving the cart when he was struck crossing the intersection, Thompson said.

Traffic was closed on Broadway Road in both directions Tuesday night while police investigated, he said.
