A surgeon has pocketed up to £300,000 pay after being “retired” from a scandal-hit heart unit.
Nihal Weerasena, 60, stopped surgical work at Leeds General hospital in 2013 after concerns were raised.
But he kept his full pay, up to £101,451 each year.
Leeds NHS Trust confirmed Mr Weerasena is “on secondment and not subject to any disciplinary proceedings.”
He remains the subject of a General Medical Council probe.
