Adele is ready to start dating again now that she has officially split from husband Simon Konecki, and she has expressed interest in giving American men a try as she spends much of her time these days in Los Angeles, the U.K. tabloid The Sun reported.
The 30-year-old “Hello” singer and Konecki, a 44-year-old nonprofit CEO, announced Friday that they were ending their marriage, People reported.
The pair only confirmed their marriage two years ago. However, it’s believed Adele and Konecki had been together since 2011; they became parents to son Angelo in October 2012. But the couple kept their relationship extremely private, dividing their time between London and Beverly Hills, where they bought a home in 2016.
They also kept quiet the likelihood that their romance ended some time ago, according to reports.
“In reality this was a marriage where the romantic love ended many years ago,” a source told The Sun, which added that the two had been leading separate lives “for years.”
People magazine said signs of a split had been apparent for nearly a year. These signs include the fact that Adele and Konecki had not been seen together for months; she also had been seen recently, heading to a New York City recording studio, without a wedding ring.
Meanwhile, Adele often has been spotted out having fun with friends, going to concerts and other events, People added.
In 2018, she joined Taylor Swift backstage during her Reputation stadium tour and raved on Twitter about how much fun she had attending Drake’s concert in October. In February, she and friend Jennifer Lawrence surprised fans at a New York City gay bar and partied with the crowd, People added. At one point, Adele got up on stage and introduced herself as a “stay-at-home mom,” but made no mention of Konecki.
The Sun described the visit to the bar, and downing shots with Lawrence and a drag queen, as “a secret divorce party.”
The London-born singer-songwriter currently is trying to build a life in the United States, where she is working on her fourth album, a follow-up to her best-selling, Grammy-winning third album, “25.” The fourth album predictably will address the long breakdown of her marriage, The Sun said.
In the meantime, Adele wants to start dating again, and she might want to see if she will have more romantic success with an American, The Sun reported.
While Konecki spent the first 10 years of his life in New York City, he moved to the U.K. at age 10, where he attended Eton and began his career as an investment banker before turning to nonprofit work.
“(Adele’s) been excited speaking to men again,” a source told The Sun. “She is very much in the courting phase.
“She’s attracted to other men and accepts it is over with Simon for good this time — there is no going back,” the source added. “She has asked friends to look out for potential dates. She doesn’t want to rush or get into something too serious too soon.”
