Springfield man arrested after fighting with Moniteau County deputies

A Springfield man who was wanted for stealing a vehicle was caught Thursday after fighting with deputies from the Moniteau County Sheriff's Department.

According to a news release from the sheriff's department, deputies were dispatched to Missouri 87 in Jamestown in reference to a resident's report of a suspicious person who had run out of gas and was asking residents for fuel.

As the deputy arrived at the location, he reportedly observed a white male, later identified as Tristan Parson, 22, standing beside a vehicle that was pulled into a driveway in Jamestown. As the deputy approached, Parson allegedly ran north into a field and woods. The deputy called for assistance and began trying to locate Parson.

Deputies ran the vehicle information and found the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Springfield on Thursday. Deputies then sealed off the area and began a manhunt for Parson. The Jamestown School District was placed on lockdown for safety reasons.

Deputies searched the area with the aid of a K-9 from the Cooper County Sheriff's Office and reportedly located items that had been discarded by Parson in a field just north of where they found the vehicle. The search continued for several hours until a resident alerted deputies that Parson was seen walking by a business in Jamestown.

Deputies then located Parson, and when they approached him, he allegedly became combative, trying to bite and punch the deputies. Deputies then deployed a Taser and took Parson into custody. They also allegedly located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia on him.

During an interview with Parson, investigators said he did state he had stolen the vehicle in Springfield from a business and was attempting to reach Garden City in Cass County in western Missouri.
