Susan Zurenda
Southern Lit Alliance will host Susan Zurenda for a writing workshop and lecture on Monday, March 2, for the book launch of her award-winning novel, Bells for Eli.
The writing workshop will begin at 5 p.m. and a lecture and presentation of Bells for Eli will be at 7 p.m. Both will be held at the Arts Building, 201 E. 11th St. Tickets are $10 and available here.
About Susan Zurenda:
After teaching literature, composition, and creative writing to thousands of high school and college students for 33 years, Ms. Zurenda turned her attention to putting a novel in her heart on paper. She is delighted to present her award-winning, debut novel, Bells for Eli, named the Winter 2020 Okra Pick from the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance.
During her years of teaching Creative Writing at Spartanburg Community College and then as an AP English teacher at Spartanburg High School, Ms. Zurenda published short stories and won numerous regional awards such as the South Carolina Fiction Prize (twice), the Porter Fleming Competition, The Southern Writers Symposium Emerging Writers Fiction Contest, Alabama Conclave First Novel Chapter Contest, and The Jubilee Writing Competition (twice).
