Local children find a new way to manage their emotions with an afternoon spent in a yoga studio.
4 States Yoga and Restoration Center hosted their first Stress Relief for Kids Yoga Class Sunday.
Instructors say yoga can greatly help children learn to deal with A.D.H.D., anxiety, anger or depression–in turn avoiding tantrums and behavioral issues.
“Kids struggle a lot and we don’t give them the benefit of the doubt on most things. Um so teaching them how to breathe, of course we all breathe but continually breathing, learning to calm ourselves down,” says instructor Amanda Tiberghien.
Instructors primarily focus on breathing, relaxation and attention exercises.
With the turnout they had today, they hope to make it a monthly course.
They’re also offering a discount if you bring more than one child.
