TN man indicted on charges for killing his father, father's friend

HANCOCK COUNTY, TN (WAFF) - A man in Tennessee has been indicted on charges of killing his father and his father's friend while attempting to steal a truck.

On April 8, TBI Special Agents joined detectives from the Hancock County Sheriff's Office to investigate the death of 57-year-old Ricky Helmick Sr. and 37-year-old Natasha Riley.

Ricky Helmick Sr. and Riley were both found shot to death at a home in Sneedville, Tennessee.

During the investigation, detectives received information that 30-year-old Ricky Helmick Jr. was responsible for the deaths. Investigators say he was attempting to take his father's truck.

During further investigation, it was revealed that Ricky Helmick Jr. also confined another relative during the incident.

Monday, the Hancock County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Ricky Helmick Jr,with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of felony murder, one count of aggravated kidnapping and one count of theft over $1,000.

He is being held in the Hamblen County Jail with a bond set at $750,000.
