Sanders to lead Middle School Principals Association

Anthony “Tony” Sanders, principal of Greensboro Middle School, was selected as the 2019-2020 Principal of the Year and was installed as the President of the Alabama Association of Middle School Principals for 2020-2021. Sanders is a 25-year veteran of public education, starting his career at Selma High School. He has been in administration and supervision for 13 years, serving as assistant principal at Southside High School in Selma and principal at Greensboro Middle School. This fall, Sanders will also serve as a mentoring principal at the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools’ New Principals Institute.

Alabama School of Fine Arts 

Alabama School of Fine Arts in Birmingham added seven Tuscaloosa-area students to its enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year. The school is the state’s only highly specialized arts and sciences pre-professional and college preparatory program for middle and high school students. Accepted to the school are Ashu Anand, Abhai Anand, Olivia Cailler, Yiwen Wang, Creighton Woods and Greta Peterson of Tuscaloosa and Benjamin Evans of Northport.

Holy Spirit Catholic School 

The school started back on campus Aug. 20 with social distancing guidelines in place.Each day the staff and students must have their temperatures taken upon arrival to campus. Mask requirements and sanitation procedures are in place throughout the day along with social distancing guidelines.
