Featured DJ :: Ronnie Bruno

At the age of seventeen (1985), Ronnie Bruno began his DJ career at the Rose, a downtown gay club in Wichita Falls. It was also around this time Ronnie and fellow DJ friends, Mary XTC and Robert Taylor, formed a DJ team called Illustration XII. The three played a number of parties together until 1987, when Ronnie relocated to Dallas, Texas.

In 1988 Ronnie found employment at Oak Lawn Records. An employee there introduced Ronnie to Ric Herrington, the manager and main DJ at a new video bar on Cedar Springs called Big Daddy’s. This was the first of a string of gay nightclubs (*see below) Ronnie played around the Oak Lawn/Cedar Springs area. However, avoiding boundaries he also played straight and mixed clubs most being in a newly budding section of Dallas at the time, Deep Ellum.

In 1992 while still working at Oak Lawn Records he met Cade Adams, a local music enthusiast who along with Ronnie formed the label Essential Records. The label was short lived, having only one release by the popular UK dance act Psychotropic (of Hipnosis fame) entitled Goodtime/Hardtime. The recording was licensed for US release by Essential Records and remixed by the Dallas based remix team Global (Rob Vaughan and Josh Kay). Several record pools on the west coast charted Goodtime/Hardtime in the top 5 and it hit the top of many DJ’s playlists in San Francisco in early 1992. The 12″ was sent out to US record pools packaged with a condom promoting safe sex and the title of the song.

1994 marked promoter Brooke H and her NYC Club Kid invasion of Dallas. During the 90’s Brooke H produced many Club Kid outlaw/warehouse parties around the city including the “King & Queen of the Dallas Scene.” These wild parties brought some of the most well known NYC downtown superstars such as Michael Alig, Lady Kier, Richie Rich, Lahoma Van Zandt, James St James, Lady Bunny, Keoki, Larry T and many others. Ronnie played most Brooke H events alongside longtime friend and Dallas DJ Robert Taylor. These events were highly successful until Brooke H’s inevitable move to the big apple.

In 1996, Ronnie and longtime partner Kristopher E wanted to recreate the circuit party atmosphere in Dallas. A party called REFUGE accomplished this goal on Sunday, Memorial Day Weekend, 1996 at 2826, a Dallas nightclub. Refuge 2 & 3 followed and were also successful.

In 1998 Ronnie began playing Sundays at SEVEN. This was a new club that was opened by Michael Morris, owner of such nightspots as , MARTINI RANCH, and 2826. The MET called SEVEN “…the most popular club in Dallas. THE place to be seen.” Sundays at SEVEN proved to be Ronnie’s most successful AND longest running night at the time. (July 1998 – July 2002) In 1999, due to the success of Seven, Ronnie began a weekly Friday night at ONE. It also enjoyed a successful three and a half year run but shortly thereafter closed their doors. Ronnie played the final night to a packed house and at 6.45 am closed the night with “Everybody’s Free” by Rozalla, a favorite at ONE since opening in 1990.

These days Ronnie can be found at The Tin Room where he has played on Sundays for the last eight years. Ronnie has been Billboard reporting DJ since 2004 and was voted Best Club DJ by the Readers Voice Awards in 2011 and 2012.

Featured DJ :: DJ Blacklow

Los Angeles-based DJ Blacklow’s (Jeremy Blacklow) sound is a mixture of progressive house, classic house, tech house, circuit, tribal, and pop. His sets are known for blending the old and the new together seamlessly to create an incredible dance floor journey on every outing.

Blacklow grew up inspired by the house music of New York City in the ’90s. From the time he moved there in 1994, the beats of DJs such as Junior Vasquez, Danny Tenaglia, Victor Calderone and the late Peter Rauhofer opened his ears to the sound that still influences him today. Living in LA since 2004, Blacklow finally listened to friends’ advice and took his love of music to the next level. He began spinning for friends in 2010, and started to play bars, clubs & events throughout SoCal in 2011.

Recent career highlights for Blacklow have included headlining Pride weekends in Las Vegas, Palm Springs, and Seattle, playing for a huge crowd over Memorial Day weekend in Pensacola (Emerald City), and playing Dallas’s world famous Black Tie Event fundraiser in fall 2015.

In summer 2015 alone, Blacklow was honored to headline several huge parties, including Oz nightclub for New Orleans Pride (where he returned to headline Mardi Gras weekend ’16), XY nightclub for Vancouver Pride, and the world famous Crown & Anchor nightclub in Provincetown for opening weekend of their Carnival Week celebration. For three years (2013 – 15) Blacklow has played NYC Pride at the Dream Hotel for promoters Jared Needle and Brandon Voss (where in 2015, Caitlyn Jenner made her first ever public appearance while he was behind the decks, as featured in E!’s “I Am Cait”!)

In Jan. 2014, Blacklow released his first production (along with production partner, George Figares), a high-energy remix of Sara Bareilles’ Grammy-nominated anthem “Brave,” which has been downloaded over 30,000 times.

Blacklow and Figares have recently completed new remixes of “Bad Chick” by Seth Cooper feat. Sasha, “Let’s Dance” by Ana Paula ft. Other popular remixes include Iggy Azalea & Rita Ora’s “Black Widow,” Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl” and “Baby Don’t Lie,” Fifth Harmony’s “BO$$,” and Zedd’s “I Want You To Know” (feat. Selena Gomez).

The summer of ’16 will also usher in several exciting new gigs for Blacklow, including the UNITE festival for San Diego Pride, Vancouver’s Davie St. Pride Party with Celebrities nightclub, and a return to Provincetown. And a huge announcement will be coming soon about the release of his first single on Swishcraft Records.

Featured DJ :: DJRickyRock

Hi music lovers. I started my DJ’ing experience in 1978 after studying music in college…in the height of the Disco era. I then went on to become a club DJ and producer for many years thereafter. In those 30+ years I have heard many styles of dance music all of which have their roots in Disco and early House. While I have since retired from the club DJ scene, I continue my love for DJ’ing by creating and uploading my mixes online to mixcloud.com. I mostly do retro but have mixed many other genres of music. I live in Pittsburgh, PA, USA home of many sports teams, world renowned medical facilities, tons of restaurants/bars and great neighborhoods. I am most thankful for all of the friends I have made over the years, from all over the world, who have continued to push my passion for music.

Thanks for listening to my mixes and for supporting all of the DJs in your lives.

Featured DJ :: DJ MNDO aka Armando Chavez

I’ve been playing now for close to 4 years. I started this as a hobby. Being a huge music lover it felt natural to stepping to DJing. OnceI was ready I began shopping my CD around locally. One day a local DJ, who is now a friend, decided to take a chance on me and helped me land my first weekly gig at The Drama Room.
That quickly lead to a weekly set at The Brick. One short year after I became their resident DJ.  I’ve had the chance to play at other locations up and down the Oak Lawn area. One memorable night was playing at Alexander’s for the annual Halloween Block Party.

I really enjoy making people move, be it bouncing their heads to my beat or full on attack on the dance floor. I always play music that would make me dance and stylistically I’m all over the board because of that.  My sets range from high energy sounds, dance and club hits, EDM, progressive house, tribal and classic hits. It’s all about energy and response from the crowd. Nothing gets me going more than seeing people respond to the music!

This year will be an even bigger year for me. I’ll be making my Circuit debut at The Purple Party opening for DJ Wayne G on Saturday May 9th at RISE.  I’m also playing a second weekly show every Friday night at The Cedar Springs Tap House.

You can find DJ MNDO on Mixcloud and weekly at The Brick & Joe’s and the Cedar Springs Tap House.

Featured DJ :: Drew G

CLICK HERE to listen There are few sounds on the DJ circuit today as fresh and innovative as those of DJ Drew G. Based in San Diego, but constantly on the road, this prolific DJ and music producer continues to push dance floors to the limit in clubs both at home and around the world. To describe Drew G’s sound is near impossible because he crosses so many genres in both his production work and live DJ sets. His trademark “Dirty Pop” signature sound is a blend of house, pop, rock, hip-hop, EDM and more. Within the world of Dirty Pop, you’re as likely to hear Rihanna and Pink, as Shania Twain and Queen. Sonic boundaries mean nothing to him – he breaks them week in and week out. To create the sound, Drew fuses many songs together to create what sounds like brand new remixes on the fly, often containing drops from original un-remixed tracks. The brand refers nowadays not only to his sound, but also to the bad boy image associated with the Number 1 traveling dance Party in the U.S., as well as the Dirty Pop apparel line. A Drew G live set is infused with relentless energy. Nobody can work mash-ups like him. He flows in and out of tracks flawlessly and fans never know what to expect next. Hard kicks and dark electro drops are common trademarks of a Dirty Pop set. Drew G’s production work is no stranger to the Billboard Club Charts. With his DJ partner, Brian Cua, he has procured official remixes for some of the hottest music artists in the world, including Madonna, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Whitney Houston, Ke$ha, Britney Spears, Deborah Cox, and Mary J. Blige, just to name a few. Amongst the numerous events around the globe that DJ Drew G has played are New York City’s famous Black Party (he’s the youngest DJ ever to play the event, which he’s now done three times), numerous Cherry weekend events in Washington, DC, a 2008 Presidential Inaugural ball for President Barack Obama, Carnival in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Gay & Lesbian Ski Week in Aspen, Colorado, the Pink Party in Denver, CO, several of Jason Harrigan’s events in Sydney, Australia, Dunes Resort events in Saugatuck, Michigan, Ascension weekend at Fire Island Pines, and Sand Blast in Asbury Park, New Jersey. When challenges are thrown at Drew, he channels the lessons behind them into his music. Dirty Pop is a true extension of his artistic self. A true craftsman, Drew G strives to constantly create. With his beats and melodies, he expresses his truth through music. The next chapter of Drew’s career holds exciting promise. As he continues to tour, he strives to keep his legion of supporters satisfied. With Dirty Pop, you never know what you might hear or experience next.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. DJ Brandon Moses sprung onto the music scene in Dallas five years ago. After a short time spinning at Tin Room and Drama Room, he decided to leave the club scene in order to concentrate on his podcast releases and private events. For the past few years, Brandon has been found playing mainly at private parties and charitable events here in Dallas. He has spun for the Teddy Bear Party, the Red Party, The Lambda Legal White Party, the Toast to Life Reception for the Resource Center of Dallas, and Black Tie. He has opened for headlining DJs at the Purple Foundation’s annual Purple Party main event, and will return once again this year to do the same. Abroad, Brandon is slowly expanding into other cities. Most notable are his repeated, annual appearances for Gay Ski Week Telluride and at the Portofino Island Resort pool parties in Pensacola Beach, FL for Memorial Day Weekend. This past Halloween, Brandon spun at the opening party for the 30th anniversary for Halloween New Orleans, his most notable achievement to date. Brandon has also partnered with BRAVO! Entertainment on several corporate and private events. One of these events saw him spinning at the Versace mansion in South Beach. During daylight hours, Brandon works out of an office in the West Village as an apartment locator. Second only to his passion for music and dancing is his love for travel. His boyfriend, Parker, is a flight attendant with American Airlines. “I’m excited to see what the future brings both of us. We are definitely going to be flying often and seeing the world together. I’d love to take my music international, and spin in cities all over the world.” ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
