Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum has left Flamengo's fans upset after admitting he knows little about the Copa Libertadores winners.

The Reds could meet Fla in the final of the Club World Cup this month, which will be a new experience for Wijnaldum, who admits he doesn't know a lot about the Brazilian giants.

"No, not really," he replied when asked if he was up-to-date on Fla. "I do remember that I trained in the stadium in 2014 with the Oranje and I know that Ronaldinho played there.

"Whether I know a player from Flamengo? Hmmm, not really, but that will change in a week's time. Besides my work as a soccer player, I am not really into football. I enjoy life. I don't know much about other competitions, not even from the Dutch league. As soon as we go there, we will prepare for the opponents and analyze them."

Wijnaldum's comments have since generated a backlash from Fla fans online.
