Jimmy Fallon Could Actually Wind Up In Hot Water For Hawking NFTs On ‘The Tonight Show’

Jimmy Fallon Could Get In Trouble For Hawking NFT On The Tonight Show

  • Jimmy Fallon hosted Paris Hilton on The Tonight Show earlier this week.
  • The pair talked about the Bored Ape NFTs that they own.
  • Fallon could actually find himself in some trouble due to his NFT hawking.

Earlier this week, we brought you the story of The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon and Paris Hilton having a cringeworthy conversation about Bored Ape NFTs while on the air.

“It reminded me of me a little bit because I wear striped shirts,” Fallon said of the sunglasses and fishing boat captain hat-wearing ape.

Due to NBCUniversal company policy, though, Fallon could actually find himself in some trouble as a result of his NFT shilling with Hilton.

A workplace policy set out by Comcast, the parent company of “The Tonight Show” network NBC, asks employees to “not let outside interests or activities interfere with [their] business judgment or responsibilities to the company.”

Another policy within NBCUniversal mandates that all employees “disclose and obtain approval for all outside work, financial interests and other personal activities/relationships that may create or appear to create a conflict.” The same policy says that employees should not “use company info, resources, time, etc. for personal benefit.” [via The Los Angeles Times]

As such, if the price of Fallon’s NFT were to go up, he would have effectively used company resources for personal benefit, which is against the aforementioned policy. The LA Times report says it is believed that Fallon paid approximately $216,000 for the NFT back in November 2021.

According to the official Bored Ape website, “the Bored Ape Yacht Club is a collection of 10000 unique Bored Ape NFTs— unique digital collectibles living on the Ethereum blockchain.”
