The NFL Season is underway and most everyone agrees that it will take a gargantuan effort to unseat the reigning Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs became the first team to win the Super Bowl after averaging less than 100 rushing yards during the regular season.

KC has discovered a rushing attack for 2020-2021. That makes the Chiefs even more difficult to beat. The Baltimore Ravens have the top chance to unseat the Vince Lombardi Trophy holders.

Both group of fans, all football fans, become more excited as days pass in the current NFL Season. One group of people who are likely more excited than anyone else, though, are pph sportsbook agents. Also called pay per head agents, sportsbook operators that use bookie software have waited all year for the NFL to start.

The NCAA College Basketball Tournament canceled after the coronavirus pandemic forced the NBA and NHL to shut down their seasons. Although pro basketball and pro hockey returned, a college basketball tournament won’t happen in 2020.

The reason it’s significant is because the college basketball tournament is the second most important event on a bookmaker’s calendar. The first is the NFL Season. Most bookies suffer a 20% to 30% revenue drop off after the NFL crowns its champion.

They and their sports betting clients counted down the days and minutes to the Chiefs versus Texans kickoff. Some players have already wagered on games well into the season, like NFL Week 15 when the Kansas City Chiefs battle the New Orleans Saints in the Superdome.

As mentioned above, the Ravens are also Super Bowl favorites. Lamar Jackson, the 2019 NFL MVP leads the Baltimore Ravens. Baltimore battles Kansas City on an ESPN broadcast Monday Night Football contest on Sep. 28. That game could determine which team becomes the overall favorite to lift the Lombardi hardware.

Several squads, including the Cowboys, Packers, Patriots, and Saints, offer what most football fans consider better than fair odds. Outside of the Ravens, these teams could challenge the Chiefs for Super Bowl rings.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys remain a viable NFL Championship favorite even though they lost linebacker Leighton Vander Esch for 6 to 8 weeks. Most football handicappers believe that new coach Mike McCarthy’s offense will gel.

When it does, the Cowboys should have no trouble putting points on the board. If the defense can weather the offensive storms until Vander Esch returns, Dallas could remain a top Super Bowl contender.

To do so, quarterback Dak Prescott must firmly grasp McCarthy’s system. He failed to do so in Week 1 when the L.A. Rams, playing as home underdogs, upset the Cowboys. The days of leaning on a top running back and powerful offensive line are over. Prescott must lead Dallas if they hope to win the NFC and stamp their ticket to Super Bowl 55.

New Orleans Saints

No team has won more games during the regular season the past three years than the New Orleans Saints. Will things change in 2020?

Drew Brees is now 41-years-old. Brees holds six NFL passing records, though, and unless he’s lost a major step, the Saints should have no trouble averaging close to 30, or maybe even more than 30, points per game.

New Orleans biggest advantage this season could be on the defensive side. Cam Jordan produced 15 ½ sacks last season. The Saints added top cornerback Janoris Jenkins to play on the opposite side of pro bowl corner Marshon Lattimore. Jenkins paid instant dividends when running back an errant Tom Brady throw for a pick 6 in the Saints Week 1 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Saints also have a top linebacking corp. If the defense stays strong, who knows? New Orleans could win the Super Bowl even if Drew Brees’ skills decline the same way the Denver Broncos won Super Bowl 50 in 2016 with an over the hill Peyton Manning.

Green Bay Packers

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, a bunch of skill players, and a strong offensive line should lead to the Packers fielding a top three offense. Green Bay already has a signature win to their credit. In Week 1, they blasted the rival Vikings 43-34 in Minnesota.

Rodgers threw for 364 yards and 4 touchdowns. But before crowning Green Bay as the best team in the NFC, we must realize that the Vikings had no homefield advantage. Also, the Packer defense allowed the Vikings to score a ridiculous 24 points in the fourth quarter.

Minnesota did come on in the fourth. So, if Green Bay wants to beat New Orleans or Dallas in the National Football Conference, their defense must gel.

New England Patriots

As soon as Tom Brady picked up his football and headed south for the rest of his career, Super Bowl betting odds on the Pats rose from +850 to +2500. At the time, New England had plans to replace Brady with Jarrett Stidham.

The odds dove from +2500 to +1200 after New England signed former Carolina Panther Cam Newton. That’s where New England’s odds remained until the start of the season.

In the past, New England has excelled when Tom Brady has gone to the bench. Newton almost led the Panthers to a Super Bowl win in 2016. The Patriots are much more than Tom Brady, which means Newton could excel.

New England’s new quarterback did in Week 1. Cam rushed for 75 yards and a couple of touchdowns. He also completed 78.9% of his passed.

New England looked good. Pay per head bookies and football handicappers should consider the Patriots a top contender after the Chiefs and Ravens to win the Super Bowl.

Pandemic or no pandemic, the rest of the 2020-2021 NFL Season projects as one of the most exciting in history. The greatest player of all time, Tom Brady, has a new address, and the last couple of NFL most valuable players, Patrick Mahomes in 2018 and Lamar Jackson in 2019, play for the top two Super Bowl contenders.

The NFL also has parity this season. The New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers, and Dallas Cowboys are contenders.
