BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Two of Bucks County's four remaining mass COVID-19 vaccination clinics will close on July 3.

The clinics at the Newtown and Perkasie campuses of Bucks County Community College are shutting down one month ahead of schedule due to plummeting demand for the vaccine, county officials said Wednesday.

The county will continue to run two clinics at the Neshaminy Mall in Bensalem and the Warwick Square Shopping Center and deploy small vaccination strike teams to homebound residents and set up pop-up clinics at various locations.

More than 260,000 of the county's roughly 629,186 residents have received both doses of the vaccine, according to state health data. Another 79,000 are partially vaccinated.

New COVID-19 infections in Bucks County have dropped about 90 percent over the past month, due in large part to 41 percent of the population being fully inoculated against the virus, according to Public Health Director David Damsker.

"I’m a firm believer in the vaccine and that everyone should be vaccinated," Damsker said at a Central Bucks School Board meeting last week. "I believe it works, and I believe that’s one of the main reasons were not seeing a resurgence."

All county-run vaccine clinics are open for walk-ins and scheduled appointments. Each offers both the single-dose Johnson & Johnson shot and the two-dose Pfizer vaccine.

In Bucks County, fully vaccinated can resume activities without wearing a mask or social distancing, except where required by federal, state or local laws. The statewide mask mandate is set to expire June 28.

Nearly 56 percent of Pennsylvania adults are fully vaccinated, and the state ranks 9th nationwide for first dose vaccinations, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Bucks County residents can sign up for a vaccine through the COVID-19 vaccine portal.
