CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Nueces County Primary Runoff Elections will be held Tuesday, and the voting process is expected to look different due to the pandemic.

Back in March, Governor Greg Abbott delayed the election until July due to a statewide increase in COVID-19 cases.

Now, new state guidelines are place to help keep voters safe, which include asking voters to self-screening for COVID-19 symptoms before making the trip to the polls. If a voter does feel sick, they will be able to request curbside voting.

Inside the polling locations, the county is also taking multiple precautions. Workers will have face masks and face shields and stylus pens will be used upon check-in and sanitized after each use. Meanwhile, voters will use cotton swabs so they don't have to touch the voting machines. Hand sanitizer will also be available, and social distancing will be encouraged through tape markings on the ground.

Each polling location will have an extra worker dedicated to sanitizing the equipment.

Voting will begin at 7 a.m. and continue until 7 p.m.
