Newsletter: A Bold Start to 2022- OSI Launches OSI Renewables™ and a Turnkey Floating Wind System

It's been a busy week at Oil States already and, more specifically, with OSI Renewables™! This week we've launched not only a new renewables-focused venture within the OSI portfolio, but also a completely turnkey floating wind system that has the potential to revolutionize costs and procurement strategies for offshore wind developers.

Leveraging 80 years of experience with fixed and floating structures, mooring, and lifting/handling systems for the oil and gas industry, OSI Renewables is now set to advance these technologies necessary for the next-generation of energy infrastructure.

Yet, despite the name Oil States, renewables are not something new! Surprise! Who would have thought that a company with 'oil' in the name actually has a substantial track record of over 50 successfully completed renewables projects already under our belt? The truth is that throughout its history, OSI has risen to the challenge with our customers and partners to help meet growing energy demand through traditional sources while also enabling pathways to a lower-carbon, multi-source energy system including offshore wind, geothermal, tidal, and wave energy resources.

And yet...this is just the beginning.

If you've not seen it, please check out our animation below introducing our complete floating wind system. Its uniqueness comes from the fact that we didn't just stack components together. We started with a clean slate, a specific set of design parameters, and a rigorous global analysis process to develop an entire system from seabed connections to hull to turbine. It's optimized for max wind and wave conditions, to minimize fatigue stresses for extended design life, while significantly reducing manufacturing and installation costs. In short, combined with a global manufacturing footprint and workforce experienced in offshore fixed and floating technology, we are positioned as a one-stop-shop for the complete package. We can simplify the procurement process for developers.

This week, I also happened to write my first-ever e-book called "Simplifying Floating Wind" which is a guide to simplifying design and procurement for offshore floating wind. If interested, please send me a message, and I'd be glad to provide you with a free copy. I would also appreciate any feedback.

Until next time, thanks.

A wealth of experience and great engineering skills within the OSI heartlands team! Will be good to see it being used in the OSI renewables venture.
