Dogs, snakes, spiders and skunk rescued from Cannock house fire

Firefighters rescued a number of animals from a fire at a Cannock home.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the property in Walsall Road, Norton Canes, on Sunday evening.

While the homeowners were confirmed safe, firefighters rescued a number of animals from the property - including two dogs, a number of reptiles and a skunk.

Firefighters have investigated the cause of and found that it was accidental.

A spokesman from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "All occupiers safe although a number of animals were rescued by fire fighters including snakes, spiders, two dogs, a raccoon dog and a skunk.

"The cause of fire has now been established as accidental."
