Red Bank Baptist Church will host “A Night of Champions’’ Friday, July 26 featuring Greg McElroy, a former quarterback at the University of Alabama, and Patrick Nix, a former quarterback at Auburn University.

The community-wide event will begin at 7 p.m. General admission tickets are $20. Tickets purchased by July 19 will include a catered dinner by Chick-fil-A beginning at 5:30 p.m. Limited VIP tickets are available for $50, which includes a meal from Edley’s Bar-B-Que and an autograph session with either Mr. McElroy or Mr. Nix.

“A Night of Champions is a high energy night for football players, coaches and families to gather together in one place for one purpose,’’ said Dr. Sam Greer, senior pastor at Red Bank Baptist. “There will be great stories about football rivalries, inspirational advice for on and off the field and maybe even some laughs and tears, but most importantly we will hear about personal faith that makes all the difference.’’

Mr. McElroy was Alabama’s quarterback from 2007 to 2011. The New York Jets drafted him in 2011 and he retired from the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2013. He is now an analyst with ESPN and the SEC Network, where he is a co-host of the “Thinking Out Loud’’ program.

Mr. Nix was Auburn’s quarterback from 1992 to 1995. He served as a head or assistant football coach at several college football programs. In 2017, he was named head coach at Pinson Valley High School in Pinson, Al., where he coached his son, Bo Nix. The team won state championships in 2017 and 2018.

Through corporate and individual sponsorships, hundreds of Hamilton County middle and high school football players and coaches can attend the event for free. For information on ticket availability, call the church office at 423-877-4514 and speak with Josh Lancaster, senior associate pastor.

“We are so grateful for the sponsors who partner with us to give back to our local schools,’’ Mr. Lancaster said. “This event could not happen without their generous support.’’

The evening will also feature “pep band’’ style music led by Red Bank Baptist’s worship orchestra.
Tickets are available for purchase online through Red Bank Baptist’s website, redbankbaptist.org. For additional information, call the church office. The church is located at 4000 Dayton Blvd.
