SMITHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating a deadly shooting in Dekalb County.
DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputies and Smithville Police officers responded to the home on Carter Driver just outside of the Smithville city limits Thursday afternoon.
Officers found a man laying on the front porch of the home with gunshot wounds. The man died at the scene. The TBI was notified and arrived on the scene quickly after that.
Sheriff's officials say the homeowner and the deceased man exchanged gunfire and the homeowner shot the and killed the man. The homeowner was not injured.
No arrests have been made in the case.
