Obituary: Robert Vincent Mangiulli, 83, of Cheshire

Bob, innovative and a pioneer in the cable and wire industry for over 50 years, most recently worked for RFS.

CHESHIRE, CT - (From North Haven Funeral Home) Robert Vincent Mangiulli, 83, of Cheshire, departed this life surrounded by his beloved family December 23, 2020.

Born in New Haven, to the late Joseph Mangiulli and Rose (Esposito) Mangiulli.

Bob was the loving husband of 45 years to Cheryl (Smith) Mangiulli. He is survived by his four adoring children Lori (Monique) Mangiulli, Pam (Lou) Ionta, Robin (Cliff) Ostlund and Brendan Mangiulli. Predeceased by brothers Chick, George, Frank, Vinny, Raymond Mangiulli and sister Elizabeth Popolizio.

He was loved by his four grandchildren, Rachel and Kathryn Ionta, Eric Ostlund and Bryleigh Grace Mangiulli. He also leaves behind many loved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Bob’s professional career started at Phelp’s Dodge merging to Kabelmetal, Celwave/Cablewave and finally becoming RFS.

He was instrumental in pioneering many techniques and inventions for transmission line operations to high frequency cable connections and antennas.

He earned the loyalty and respect of his co-workers and industry colleagues both in the USA and globally. To recognize Bob’s extraordinary achievements RFS held “Bob Mangiulli” Day in recognition of his 50 years of dedicated service.

He was a longtime member of the “Wire and Cable International Industry, Inc.”

The most important part of Bob’s life was the love he had for his wife, children, grandchildren and family.

He enjoyed every get-together with gratitude, laughter and good food. Summers were spent in Eastham, Cape Cod enjoying the beach, card games and loving family. He will dearly miss his loyal companion (Dog) Bella Rose and the simple pleasure of sitting outside on the patio.

The visiting hours will be Wednesday morning, Dec. 30 from 9:30 to 11:30 at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, North Haven.

A Mass of Christian burial will follow in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven at 12 Noon. (masks and social distancing strictly required for all services) Interment will be privately held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., Farmington, MA 01701 or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN 38105.
