DUNBRIDGE, Ohio — Route 582 is scheduled to close on Wednesday. It's a narrow road that wasn't built for commercial traffic to begin with, and can be a little nerve-racking to drive on, especially if you're passing a big truck.

Signs in the area will tell you it's completely shut down between I-75 and state route 199 in Wood County.

It is a residential road-- so there will be limited local access.

No commercial access will be allowed for the time being.

Ohio Department of Transportation spokesperson, Rebecca Dangelo said that crews have done a good job of band-aid patching, but the road is deteriorating due to traffic it was never built to handle.

"The road will kind of be realigned to the north, so because unfortunately, there's the ditch on the south side we can't obviously widen into that, so we'll be widening it so it will be 12-foot lanes, and then they'll have, it's not going to be a full shoulder, but anything is better than the inches that's out there right now," she said.

Piping work will be done Wednesday, May 8 through Friday, May 10 and the road will be temporarily paved and reopened this weekend before work begins again on Monday, shutting things down again to commercial traffic and heavier vehicles.

The full reconstruction will be complete in October, but the roadway may be reopened before then.

ODOT officials said engineers are working on the best balance of minimizing traffic impacts and getting the project completed quickly.
