Doha: Due to the postponement of the 10th International Conference on Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice - All Together Better Health (ATBH-10) - rescheduled to 2023 in Doha as (ATBH-11), the Interprofessional.Global organised a series of global café webinars based on the accepted abstracts submitted to the ATBH X entitled ATBH-X Reinvented. 

Eight sessions were conducted by the regional interprofessional education and collaborative practice networks across the globe. QU Health held sessions seven and eight virtually for Arab speaking and Indian IPE networks.

During the event, three speakers presented their research findings on each session, followed by an open discussion and forum where attendees participated with questions. Interprofessional Education (IPE) Committee Chair at QU Health and Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at the College of Pharmacy, Qatar University, Dr. Alla El-Awaisi and Assistant Professor at United Arab Emirates University, Dr. Susan Waller moderated the two sessions. 

Speakers joined from Qatar and India to talk about their research in interprofessional education and collaborative practice. Deputy Physician Lead and Consultant Family Medicine, Al Wajbah Health Centre, Primary Health Care Corporation in Qatar, Dr. Muhammad Arsalan Zamir presented his topic titled: 'Team Walk: A Healthy Way to Talk.' 

Director of Research, Hamad Medical Corporation, Prof. Guillaume Alinier, talked about 'Undertaking Projects as a Multidisciplinary Team-Based Activity to Learn about Quality Improvement Science in Healthcare.' 

Associate Professor of Microbiology & Immunology, College of Medicine, Qatar University in Qatar, Dr. Susu Zughaier presented 'Immunization Programs Require Interprofessional Team to Sustain High Vaccine Coverage and Community Protection.' 

In addition, Deputy Chairman at Hamad Medical Corporation, Division Chief of General Academic Pediatrics at HMC and Sidra Medicine in Qatar, Dr. Ahmed Alhammadi, explained his findings on 'Effective Communication and Team Collaboration in Multicultural Health Care Environment: Challenges and Solutions.' 

Professor in Anesthesiology & Head of Department, Healthcare Simulation Education, Father Muller Medical College, Mangalore, Karnataka, India, Dr. Lulu Sherif Mahmood introduced the topic 'Simulation based Interprofessional Education to enhance teamwork & communication skills among medical & nursing students.'

Finally, Professor & Head, Department of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics at MCODS-Mangalore (Manipal Academy of Higher Education), India, Dr. Supriya Nambiar, shared her knowledge on the topic 'Enhancing Competencies among Health Professionals for Primary Prevention in Oral Health Care using an Interprofessional Approach.'

Dr. Alla El-Awaisi commented on the webinars saying,“It was really great hearing from the different speakers on their interprofessional collaborations efforts and their passion for working and collaborating with members of the healthcare team. We are very much looking forward to hosting the 11th International Conference on Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice - All Together Better Health (ATBH-11) in Doha in 2023 and having this conference face to face to discuss, share and learn from the different experiences around the globe and create opportunities to promote an interprofessional culture in the different settings further.”

Dr. Susan Waller added,“The cafe series was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the value of learning and working together to improve the patient experience. All the speakers shared with us their passion for collaboration, and it was inspiring to hear the reaction of participants with different experiences of interprofessional education and collaboration. As one of the speakers said, putting the patient at the front really focuses our efforts to understand each other's role and to work effectively together. I have taken away lots of ideas and strategies that I will be able to use to develop IPE in our local context.”

Dr. Muhammad Arsalan Zamir said,“I would like to highly commend all the organizers and moderators for hosting such a wonderful platform for colleagues across the region to gather and share their passionate thoughts and experiences about interprofessional collaboration and education. We are looking forward to joining future sessions.”
