Walker received 76.6 percent of the vote in his final year of eligibility, just six votes above the minimum threshold for election. He will join former Yankee shortstop Derek Jeter at the 2020 induction in Cooperstown this July.
Walker, a native Canadian, spent the first six years of his career in Montreal. During that time he earned two Gold Glove awards, a Silver Slugger and a roster spot in the 1992 All-Star Game.
His departure from the Expos organization in 1995 led to a 10-year tenure with the Colorado Rockies, where Walker would win an MVP award and five additional Gold Glove awards.
Walker will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York on Sunday, July 26. Additional information can be found on the Hall of Fame website.
