Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for parts of West, West-Central Iowa
The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Western Iowa early Tuesday morning.
It issued the warning for Sac County in west central Iowa, Eastern Crawford County in west central Iowa and Northwestern Carroll County in west central Iowa. That warning remains in effect through 4:30 a.m.
At 3:44 a.m., the NWS detected a severe thunderstorm was located over Odebolt, about 10 miles east of Ida Grove, moving southeast at 30 mph.
It warned for 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. It expected hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding and trees.
A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect through 7 a.m. for the following counties:
Adair, Adams, Appanoose, Audubon, Boone, Buena Vista, Butler, Calhoun, Carroll, Cass, Cerro, Gordo, Cherokee, Clarke, Clay, Crawford, Dallas, Davis, Decatur, Dickinson, Emmet, Franklin, Greene, Grundy, Guthrie, Hamilton, Hancock, Hardin, Humboldt, Ida, Jasper, Kossuth, Lucas, Lyon, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Marshall, Monona, Monroe, O'Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto, Plymouth, Pocahontas, Polk, Poweshiek, Ringgold, Sac, Shelby, Sioux, Story, Tama, Taylor, Union, Wapello, Warren, Wayne, Webster, Winnebago, Woodbury and Wright.
