John Kennedy: 'Christmas ornaments, drywall,' and Jeffrey Epstein are three things that do not hang themselves

.

Sen. John Kennedy said Americans were skeptical of the official narrative that late, convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein killed himself.

“Christmas ornaments, drywall, and [Jeffrey] Epstein – name three things that don’t hang themselves. That’s what the American people think,” the Louisiana Republican said Tuesday during a Senate Judiciary hearing with the director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons. “And they deserve some answers.”

Kathleen Hawk Sawyer, the director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, appeared before the committee as speculation rages in public over whether Epstein actually killed himself in August. His brother, Mark Epstein, hired a pathologist who did his own autopsy, which he said showed his brother was murdered rather than committed suicide.

Belief that Epstein was murdered has become a cultural phenomenon which is partly a meme and partly based in real skepticism. Fox News, MSNBC, and C-SPAN have all fallen prey to people being interviewed screaming out, “Epstein didn’t kill himself!”

Two prison employees who were tasked with checking in on Epstein the night of his death were arrested Tuesday. The arrests comes after they declined a plea deal from federal prosecutors.
