It’s time for the Lighthouse Challenge
The Lighthouse Challenge of NJ 2020 will be held virtually and in-person. The event will be held with modifications in order to comply with CDC and New Jersey Department of Health guidelines.
For the virtual event, participants may visit lighthousechallengenj.com any time before Oct. 31 and click on “challenge sites.” For each site, there is a short history or description to review and most also offer a video tour.
After learning about each site, participants may scroll down to find a downloadable coloring pages. Participants are encouraged to create a project with their art work and share it on the Lighthouse Challenge of NJ Facebook page.

This year’s challenge weekend is Oct. 17 and 18. Lighthouses that are expected to be open are Absecon Lighthouse, Cape May Lighthouse and East Point Lighthouse. Grounds at some other lighthouses and challenge sites also will be open. Check lighthousechallengenj.com or the website for individual locations for updated information.
A completion sticker is available to download for everyone who completes the challenge.
There is no fee to participate, but donations to support the lighthouses may be made at lighthousechallengenj.com.
Yellow Garage Antiques to host Festival of Antiques
MULLICA HILL – Yellow Garage Antiques will host the 14th annual Festival of Antiques from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 17, rain or shine, at the Gloucester County 4-H Fairgrounds at 275 Bridgeton Pike.
The sale will include antique country and formal furniture, pottery, fine art, glass, stoneware, textiles, quilts, dolls, Americana, jewelry, clocks, porcelain, sterling, toys, advertising, metal-ware and more.
Refreshments will be available for purchase.
Admission is $5 in advance via Ticketleap.com or $6 at the gate. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Harrison Township Historical Society.
Attendees also may enjoy visiting the Yellow Garage Antiques Center and other antiques and specialty shops on Main Street.
Attendees must wear a face covering and be mindful of social distancing.

Prepare to be scared: Hallowfest at Six Flags
JACKSON - Six Flags Great Adventure will host Hallowfest at Six Flags, Fridays through Sundays, through Nov. 1.
The park will be open from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays and 5 p.m. to closing Fridays.
The event will feature Thrills By Day and Chills By Night.
Thrills by Day will be offered from 2 to 6 p.m., for families and young thrill-seekers. It will feature Scarecrow Street, Pumpkin Patch Lane, Hay Bale Maze, Trick-or-Treat Trail, Magic on the Move, Cornstalk National Park, plus Halloween-themed specialty treats available for purchase.
Chills by Night will begin at 6 p.m. and will feature four scare zones, three shows plus haunted mazes and a limited number of socially distanced scareactors.
Masks will be required for ages 2 and older. Social distancing will be required.
Multiple hand-washing and alcohol-based hand sanitizer stations will be located throughout the parks for guest and team member use. Plus, high touch areas will be cleaned and sanitized regularly.
Tickets start at $29.99 for single day and $59.99 for a season pass.

Corvettes set to take over Historic Smithville
SMITHVILLE - Historic Smithville, The Village Greene, will host a Corvette Show, sponsored by The Original Garden State Corvette Club, on Oct. 18 at 615 E. Moss Mill Road. The rain date is Oct. 25.

Philadelphia Zoo hosts Boo at the Zoo
PHILADELPHIA – Kids of all ages are invited to attend Philadelphia Zoo’s Boo at the Zoo from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 16 to 18, 23 to 25 and 31, and Nov. 1.
Dress in your favorite costume to visit and enjoy a socially distanced parade, seasonal decor, the Great Pumpkin Wall, photo opportunities and a spooktacular good time. Instead of trick-or-treating around the zoo, guests will receive treat bags courtesy of Mars as they leave the zoo. Costumes with toy guns and weapons are prohibited.
Also, the annual not-so-scary extinction graveyard will showcase extinct animals and animals the zoo is trying to save from extinction.
Fall food and drink offerings will include hot apple cider, sweets and treats.
Take a family photo during your visit and post it on Instagram with the tag @philadelphiazoo and the hashtag #booatthezoophilly for a chance to win prizes.
Visitors must wear COVID 19-safe face masks and practice social distancing.
Tickets for timed reservations, which must be purchased in advance, are $24 for ages 12 and older, $19 for ages 2 to 11 and free for ages 1 and younger.

NJMP hosts motorless fun
MILLVILLE - Calling all bicyclists, skateboarders, rollerbladers, runners, walkers and parents with strollers! New Jersey Motorsports Park will host an Inspira Health Motor(less) Night on Oct. 15. Gates will be open from 5:30 p.m. to sunset for this free event.
Visitors are invited to bike, skate, rollerblade, run and walk along Lightning Raceway. Proper personal protective equipment and social distancing are required.
Also, the park’s Finish Line Pub will be open during the event.

Things are getting spooky in Hammonton
HAMMONTON - Main Street Hammonton will present Third Thursday: A Wickedly Spooktacular Bash from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 15 in Downtown Hammonton.
Visitors are invited to “Eat, Drink & Be Scary!” The event will feature Day of the Dead crafts, seasonal beers and dining specials. A family-friendly, Ghost Stories Walking Tour, which will start behind Casciano’s Coffee Bar at 212 Bellevue Ave., will be offered at 6:30 and 7 p.m.
Plus an opening reception for the Dark Art Show/pop-up gallery will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 15 at 27 Central Ave. The exhibit, assembled by the Art Club, The Noyes Museum of Art, MainStreet Hammonton and the Hammonton Arts Center, will feature an eclectic mix of fine art and oddities. Restart with the Arts in Burlington
BURLINGTON - Arts Guild New Jersey will host Restart with the Arts! This effort will allow invited artists of all mediums to perform on the streets of Historic Burlington during designated times.
The project’s mission is to promote, uplift and inspire through the arts and to allow visitors of all ages to safely enjoy the arts.

MULLICA HILL - Harrison Township Recreation Commission will host a Drive-in Movie Night featuring a screening of “Mulan” on Oct. 16 at the William Wilt Soccer Complex. The lot will open at 6 p.m., and the movie will start at dusk. The rain date is Oct. 17.

Historic Cold Spring Village hosts ghost walks
CAPE MAY - Historic Cold Spring Village will host ghost walks at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays in October and on Oct. 18.
Join local medium Bob Bitting on Fridays and a village staff member on Saturdays and Sunday on a lantern-lit ghost walk around the village to learn about the mysterious spectral happenings reported by village staff and revealed by paranormal investigation teams.
Tours begin at Cold Spring Brewery at 733 Seashore Road.
Tickets are $16 for adults and $14 for HCSV members and children. Advance ticket purchase is encouraged. Proceeds benefit HCSV Foundation.
