The Humane Society of Washington County (HSWC) is partnering with PetSmart Charities, the leading funder of animal welfare in North America, to participate in PetSmart’s Mega Adoption Weekend.

The adoption event will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday; and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the PetSmart store at 17740 Garland Groh Blvd. in Hagerstown.

Cats of all ages will be available for adoption throughout the event, and dogs will be available Saturday and Sunday. Adoption fees for cats will be waived, and adoption fees for dogs will vary.

“Thanks to a generous grant from PetSmart Charities, more animals will be featured on-site than usual,” Teresa Dick, corporate partnership and event manager, said in a news release. “Our goal is to place 40 animals into new homes during the Mega Adoption Weekend, so we encourage interested adopters to visit PetSmart and check it out.”

Available animals have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and given worm and flea treatments prior to being placed up for adoption. The HSWC also provides adopters with a complimentary health visit at a participating veterinarian, as well as an option for 30 days of free health insurance for their new family member.

The services are valued at more than $450.
