Vintage: Made in Cleveland
Debbie Gulyas, who once owned a vintage shop on Waterloo Rd., is hosting a one-weekend-only pop-up on Coventry Rd.’s former American Apparel storefront space. It’s not only a chance to pick up some new threads, but a slice of Cleveland history: The vintage clothing was all made in Cleveland knitting mills.

Canopy presents: The art of James Quarles
James Quarles knew from a young age that he wanted to design album covers and movie posters. Drawing influence from Stanley Kubrick to Herbie Hancock, his intricate, graphic-inspired art weaves together social commentary, poetry, street art, politics and music. He’s created everything from album artwork for local bands to this year’s Hessler Street Fair flier.

Found Footage Festival
This national touring festival heads to the Grog Shop for one wild screening. The fest is filled with footage found at off-the-wall places like garage sales, thrift stores, warehouses and more. Expect plenty of quirky oddities throughout the night.

Multiple Exposure Student Exhibit
Cleveland Print Room, the state’s only community dark room, has been embarking on an ambitious project to get cameras into the hands of kids. Through classes in Cleveland schools, the Print Room team has been teaching youth to express themselves through photos. This opening reception of their work brings together art by students from Bethany Baptist Church, Campus International School, Harvard Community Services Center, Saint Martin de Porres High School, and St Rocco School.

Spoon at the House of Blues
Indie rock act Spoon will visit the House of Blues on the tails of their recent album, “Hot Thoughts,” released in March. It’s their ninth record since their debut, “Telephono.” But it was their early ‘00s albums that broke the band into the mainstream with their cinematic, catchy hits like “The Way We Get By” and “I Turn My Camera On.”

Strictly Rhythm with Daniel Gray-Kontar and Rich Medina at Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland
Poet Daniel Gray-Kontar and Rich Medina will entertain the crowds at their appearance at the stunning Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland. This one-night show will feature poet and musician Gray-Kontar performing new and original work set to the sounds of DJ Rich Medina and live world music percussion. After the music, they’ll have a dance party inspired by Sanctuary, the soulful monthly event co-hosted by Kontar at Touch Supper Club. Medina will spin hip-hop, house, afrobeat, funk and soul classics to keep the crowds moving.

Jukebox Breakdown at the Foundry
Jukebox Breakdown – also known as “Emo Night” – has become one of the most popular monthly music parties in the city. DJed by Scott Heisel, this night is all about the best pop-punk and emo hits. To sweeten the evening, they’ll be giving away prizes from Bravo Artist, House of Blues Cleveland and the Cleveland Agora.

Shipwrecks of the Great Lakes at Cleveland Public Library
Take a deep dive into the Great Lakes’ past with this presentation at Cleveland Public Library. Underwater archaeologist Carrie Sowden of the Cleveland Underwater Explorers and the National Museum of the Great Lakes, will talk about the history of shipwrecks of the region and the process of locating, diving and salvaging historical wrecks.

Souix in 2u A New Wave Portrait Painting pARTy

The Hooley at Kamm's Corners
Consider the Hooley, an annual Irish bash, the kick-off to festival season. This long-running festival in Kamm’s Corner includes live music, food, entertainment and activities for all ages. It’s expected to bring 30,000 partiers to the neighborhood, reports Plain Dealer writer John Petkovic. 110 vendors will be there to sell their wares as you imbibe and grab a bite.

See Cleveland Museum of Art's new photography show
Street photography is the focus of Cleveland Museum of Art's new photography exhibit, "Black in America." The show features works by Leonard Freed and Louis Draper. Plain Dealer art critic Steve Litt says: "The two come together in an exhibition inspired by the museum's recent acquisition of bodies of work by both photographers, and by the museum's yearlong observance of the 50th anniversary of the election of Carl Stokes as mayor of Cleveland, and as the first black mayor in the United States."
The show is on display through July 30.
