Syracuse, N.Y. - Fayetteville-Manlius and Clinton girls soccer teams climbed three spots in this week’s state rankings, released by the New York State Sportswriters Association.
The Hornets, up to No. 12 in Class AA, basically traded places with rival Baldwinsville, which fell four places to No. 14 after sufferinig a 4-1 setback at F-M.
In Class B, Clinton moved up to No. 3 (from No. 6) after defeating rival Holland Patent, which was the No. 1 team the previous week but fell three places to No. 4.
There wasn’t much movement elsewhere.
In Class A, Jamesville-DeWitt remained at No. 2, while Central Square moved up a spot to No. 6 and New Hartford did the same, going from No. 20 up to No. 19.
Westhill climbed up a spot to No. 11 in Class B, while Central Valley Academy (No. 14) and Marcellus (No. 17) each rose two places.
In Class C, Little Falls moved up one spot to No. 2 and Waterville stayed put at No. 9.
Poland kept its No. 1 ranking in Class D, while Copenhagen (No. 3) and McGraw (No. 7) inched up a spot. Belleville-Henderson fell three places to No. 15.

Sectional tournament play begins next week in five classes. The seedings will be made Sunday.
