How much snow does nor'easter have in store for Crawford, Warren, Venango, Mercer counties?

The nor'easter expected to lash much of the Northeast on Wednesday isn't likely to have a significant effect in Erie County, but higher snowfall forecasts and winter weather advisories are in place elsewhere in northwestern Pennsylvania.

Snow begins falling in Manchester Township, York County, on Wednesday as a nor'easter brings winter weather.

One inch to 3 inches of snow is likely across most of Erie County including Edinboro, Wattsburg and Corry, according to the National Weather Service office in Cleveland.

However, the weather service in Cleveland has issued a winter weather advisory for Crawford County from 10 a.m. Wednesday through 4 a.m. Thursday. Three inches to 5 inches of snow is expected.

A winter weather advisory from the weather service in State College for Warren and McKean counties calls for 3 inches to 6 inches of snow, most of it late Wednesday. The advisory is in effect from noon Wednesday until 7 a.m. Thursday. 

The weather service in Pittsburgh calls for 3 inches to 5 inches of snow in an advisory area that includes Venango and Mercer counties. The advisory runs from 7 a.m. Wednesday until 7 a.m. Thursday. In Forest County, 5 inches to 7 inches of snow is likely.

Speed restrictions were put into place for all of Interstate 80 on Wednesday afternoon, as well as for the entire length of Interstate 376 from Mercer County to Allegheny County. The reduction to 45 mph is in place for the eastbound and westbound lanes; Commercial vehicle traffic is permitted to use the right lane only during the speed reduction.

Heavier snow is expected further south including Clarion County, where an advisory in effect from 7 a.m. Wednesday through 7 p.m. Thursday calls for 6 inches to 9 inches.

Conditions could affect the evening commute in most areas, the weather service reported.
