San Sebastian, Saint Benilde bag third win

San Sebastian College-Recoletos and College of Saint Benilde stayed afloat in the tough chase for a spot in the NCAA Season 94 Women’s Volleyball tournament Final Four at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

The Lady Stags swept the Colegio San Juan de Letran Lady Knights, 25-22, 25-16, 25-22 to gain a 3-1 record.

Returning middle blocker Iris Oliveros topped the Lady Stags with 10 points while Mary Dapol, Nikka Dalisay, and Joyce Sta. Rita managed eight markers.

Lady Stags head coach Roger Gorayeb remained cautiously optimistic of his team’s performance.

“Masaya ako dahil sa panalo, pero alam naman namin na pahirap nang pahirap ang games namin. Marami pa kaming kailangan ipanalo para makabalik sa Final Four,” said Gorayeb who missed the Final Four for the first time as a coach last season.

Miracle Mendoza led the Lady Knights, who dropped to 1-3, with eight points. Chamberleigne Cunada added seven markers.

In the first match of day, the Lady Blazers made short work of the Emilio Aguinaldo College Lady Generals, 25-11, 25-20, 25-13 for their third win in four outings.

Opposite hitter Klarisa Abriam powered the Lady Blazers with 14 points all coming off attacks. Graduating middle blocker Rachel Austero managed nine points.

The winless Lady Generals had Jaylene Lumbo go for eight points while Glyka Medina added seven.

CSB and San Sebastian remained tied for the third spot in the standings while Arellano University and San Beda University stayed atop with identical 4-0 records.
